Andrea Cook

cello

Cellist Andrea Cook began her music studies at the Suzuki String School of Guelph, where she studied with Sally Gross. After further studies with John Ehrlich, she went on to complete a Master of Music in performance and pedagogy and a Performer’s Certificate under the direction of Marc Johnson (Vermeer Quartet) at Northern Illinois University.

Before joining the SSSG, Andrea lived in London, England where she held positions with the Bayswater Suzuki Group, the Lauderdale Suzuki Group, and the Southbank International School. In Ontario she has held positions with the Oakville Suzuki Association, and the Huntsville Suzuki School.

While living in England, Andrea was on the central committee for the London Suzuki Group, where she was involved with organizing large concerts for students in major concert venues. She was also a board member with the Suzuki Association of Ontario for a number of years.

Andrea continues to enjoy expanding her learning, and feels fortunate to have recently had the opportunity to discuss technique and play for cellist Alban Gerhardt, and to begin to explore alternative playing styles.
